Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Emmys are taking place virtually, and will be broadcast live on September 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Even though the ceremony will be held remotely, a bounty of incredible performers are nominated for awards, and red carpet looks are to be expected. In fact, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Zendaya revealed, "I definitely want to pull a look and maybe just walk my living room carpet," and it seems likely that other stars will follow suit.
So that you don't miss a single designer look or epic win, here's how to watch the Emmys from the comfort of your own home.
On ABC and the ABC app
You can stream the Emmys live at the ABC website, or via the ABC app, although both require you to login via your cable package. You should also double check that ABC's live broadcast is available in your location.
You can access the ABC app via:
- Apple TV, and iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch DOWNLOAD
- Android phone, tablet, or TV DOWNLOAD
- Amazon Fire TV or Fire Tablet DOWNLOAD
Via an online-only streaming service
Even if you're not a cable subscriber, it's still possible to watch ABC via a number of streaming services. Here are just some of your options:
- YouTube TV offers viewers access to a range of premium channels, and can be streamed from all of your home devices. Subscription is currently $64.99 per month.
- Hulu with Live TV is the perfect option for any existing Hulu customers who love the streaming service, but need access to some extra channels. The basic package, which includes ads, is $54.99 per month, while premium will set you back $60.99.
- PlayStation Vue's Access Plan costs $49.99 per month, and includes ABC, along with a plethora of other channels.
Backstage coverage
Even though the event is taking place virtually this year, PeopleTV promises some exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage from the "red carpet." Per the official website, Red Carpet Live: At Home! will "stream live from the PEOPLE studio where viewers will hear from this year’s Emmy nominees and host Jimmy Kimmel, find out more about the first-ever virtual awards telecast, and watch editors give predictions for the winners of the night."
