Time on SmackDown

She was drafted into the SmackDown brand as part of the 2016 WWE draft on July 19th, 2016. In July, she made her SmackDown Live debut in a segment involving the brand’s women’s division. On the August 9 broadcast of SmackDown Live, she defeated Becky Lynch in her debut bout, which she won.

On August 21, she won a SummerSlam match alongside Natalya and Nikki Bella. She was unable to win the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Championship, which was won by Becky Lynch. Bliss secured a title match against Lynch at No Mercy on October 9 after winning a fatal five-way match in September. Becky has a legitimate ailment, thus the match has been rescheduled until November 8. Against Bliss, she successfully defended her championship. She competed in the Raw vs. SmackDown Women’s elimination tag team match at Survivor Series on November 20. On December 4 at TLC, she won the match and became the new SmackDown Women’s Champion.

On January 17, 2017, she successfully defended her championship against Lynch in a steel cage battle. Mickie James interfered in that match and linked herself with Bliss. By defeating Lynch for the second match, she became the first woman to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice. Alexa lost the title to Naomi at WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd in a six-pack challenge that included Carmella, James, Lynch, and Natalya. On September 24, she headed to No Mercy to defend against Bayley, Nia Jax, Emma, and Sasha Banks in a fatal five-way match. During the play, she also sustained a shoulder injury. She defeated Bayley and Mickie James in a triple threat match to secure a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match on June 17th. On August 19, Alexa lost the title to Ronda Rousey, ending her 63-day reign. In a rematch at Hell in a Cell, she was unable to reclaim the title.
